چکیده

For an ideal D-dimensional Fermi gas under generic external confinement we derive the correcting coefficient (D − 2)/3D of the von Weizsacker term in the kinetic energy density. To obtain this coefficient we use the Kirzhnits semiclassical expansion of the number operator up to the second order in the Planck constant h̄. Within this simple and direct approach we determine the differential equation of the density profile and the density functional of the Fermi gas. In the case D = 2 we find that the Kirzhnits gradient corrections vanish to all order in h̄. Kirzhnits gradient expansion for a D-dimensional Fermi gas 2

Expansion dynamics in the one-dimensional Fermi-Hubbard model.

Expansion dynamics of interacting fermions in a lattice is simulated within the one-dimensional (1D) Hubbard model, using the essentially exact time-evolving block decimation (TEBD) method. In particular, the expansion of an initial band-insulator state is considered. We analyze the simulation results based on the dynamics of a two-site two-particle system, the so-called Hubbard dimer. Our find...

The fermion sign problem is studied in the path integral formalism. The standard picture of Fermi liquids is first critically analyzed, pointing out some of its rather peculiar properties. The insightful work of Ceperley in constructing fermionic path integrals in terms of constrained world-lines is then reviewed. In this representation, the minus signs associated with Fermi-Dirac statistics a...

Unitary Fermi gas in the ǫ expansion

We construct systematic expansions around four and two spatial dimensions for a Fermi gas near the unitarity limit. Near four spatial dimensions such a Fermi gas can be understood as a weaklyinteracting system of fermionic and bosonic degrees of freedom. To the leading and next-to-leading orders in the expansion over ǫ = 4 − d, with d being the dimensionality of space, we calculate the thermody...
